The person behind the site
About Decaf Discovered
Hi, I'm Sarah — an IT professional based in Scotland, and a fairly recent convert to taking coffee seriously.
I was never really a "coffee person." For years my go-to was one of those heavily syruped drinks from the big chain coffee shops. Then, towards the end of 2025, I noticed the caffeine and sugar weren't agreeing with my sleep or my stomach anymore. Something had to change.
So I switched to decaf instant from the supermarket. It did the job — my sleep sorted itself out, my stomach settled down — but it was hardly exciting.
Then social media, in its all-knowing way, started serving me decaf coffee content and pointed me towards craftdecaf.com. I ordered a bag on a whim, dusted off the cafetière that had been sitting in a cupboard, and... wow. That one cup completely changed how I thought about coffee, decaf or otherwise.
A month or so later I bought a Breville Barista Slimline (that's a Sunbeam EMM5400BK machine, for anyone outside the UK), and my home coffee and latte art journey properly began. That was June 2026, and I haven't looked back since.
What this blog is
This is me sharing that journey — the good coffees, the not-so-good ones, and everything I'm learning about making it at home along the way. It's part review site, part personal notebook to keep track of what's actually worth buying again.
I don't have the fanciest machine, my kit isn't from the big-name brands, and if you ask me to find "blueberry" in a coffee, I'll probably just look at you blankly. What I can tell you, honestly, is whether something's worth trying again. 😉
Honesty and links
I only write about coffees I've actually bought and brewed myself — no free samples, no swaps for a good review. Where you see a "Buy coffee" link, it may be an affiliate link, but the price you pay stays exactly the same either way.
Thanks for stopping by — I hope you find your next favourite decaf here.
